The Hampton House

Located at 804 S. 17th Avenue in Maywood, Illinois, the Hampton House is the childhood home of Chairman Fred Hampton Sr., where the family moved in 1958. In April 2022, the Maywood Village Board voted unanimously to grant the home official historical landmark status.

Led by Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. and Comrade Mother Akua Njeri, the house is being converted into a community center and museum. The Hampton House features never-before-seen photographs, documents, and artifacts from the Black Panther Party era, a community pantry with refrigerator and free library, a community garden providing fresh food to neighbors, and a recording studio and radio broadcast space for Free Em All Radio.

The property also includes plans for a remembrance park.
